2011 Hinchman Conference Summary

Twenty-three people from seven states attended all or part of the 2011 conference held at the Ashland Plaza Hotel in Ashland, Kentucky the weekend of June 17th and 18th.  Esther Hinchman has attended every meeting since the group first met in Lewisburg, West Virginia in 1993.  Friday evening the group enjoyed a casual dinner at the Texas Roadhouse in Ashland.

Saturday, Marlon and Paula Willis hosted a delicious luncheon at their home a few miles from Ashland.  Some of the attendees enjoyed swimming in the Willis family pool while others congregated on the large deck.  A few preferred the comfort of air conditioning inside the house.  Pamela Hinchman Skinner presented each guest with beautiful bracelets that she had made.

The annual Hinchman Heritage Society business meeting was conducted by the president Joe Hinchman.  After dinner, Byron Skinner told the group about the mission of Habitat for Humanity and his involvement in Arkansas.  Kevin Hinchman demonstrated the use of the Hinchman website www.hinchman.org and how it links with other sites including www.rootsweb.com where the Hinchman database has been posted by Mary Hinchman.

Paula Willis and her brother Kevin provided a Hinchman Trivia power point presentation which included questions and answers from the 1600s to the current time.  Prizes were awarded to the attendees who knew the most correct answers.  Three door prizes of $20.00 each were presented to Kevin Hinchman, Kylie Churchwell, and Norman Hinchman.

Tony and Terry Hinchman Burns volunteered to chair the next conference in June 2012 in the Jeffersonville, IN / Louisville, KY area.
