Welcome to the 2014 Hinchman Heritage Society Annual Conference

Jeffersonville, Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky

June 18-21, 2014

For those that want to come in earlier or did not attend two years ago. There are several places to visit in this area that we did not put on the schedule this year – Louisville Slugger Museum and Churchhill Downs Museum.

Wednesday, June 18

Check-in – at the Clarion Hotel Conference Center, 505 Marriott Drive, Clarksville, IN, 47129, same hotel as two years ago with updates and name change. Reservations need to be made before 6/4/2014 or you will be charged regular rate. Our rate for a rooms is $82.95 plus 11% tax. Telephone 1-812-283-4411. www.clarionhotel.com.

Directions to Hotel:

I-65 North Exit 1 stay in left hand lane of exit. At first light make a left onto Stansifer Ave. Go under over pass through one light and make a left onto Marriott Drive. Then take first right into hotel parking lot. I-65 South Exit 1. Merge right two lanes. At first light make a right onto Stansifer Ave then an immediate left onto Marriott Drive. Take first right into hotel parking lot.

5:30pm – Meet in lobby to receive conference packet, socialize with Hinchman relatives until all meets together

6:00pm – depart for dinner – King Fish Restaurant, 601 W. Riverside Dr. Jeffersonville, IN 47130 – www.kingfishrestaurants.com

8:00pm – Socializing in the lobby

Thursday, June 19

8:00am – 9:15am – Breakfast on your own – there is a restaurant at the hotel or there are several choices in Clarksville on Lewis and Clark Pkwy which is north off I65 – Denny’s, Bob Evans, Golden Corral, Steak and Shake, Frisch’s Big Boy, etc.

9:15am – Meet in the lobby to car pool to the Falls of the Ohio State Park

9:30am – 11:30am – Falls of the Ohio State Park, 201 West Riverside Drive, Clarksville, IN 47129 – Age 19 older – $5 Age 18 younger – $2, www.fallsoftheohio.org

11:45am – Flame Run Glass Studio and Gallery, 815 W. Market St., Louisville, KY 40202

1:00pm – Cunningham’s Restaurant, 630 S 4th St, Louisville, KY 40202

2:30pm – 4:30pm – Frazier History Museum, 829 West Main Street, Louisville, KY 40202, Group rate Adults $8.50 – Regular admission $10.50

Then back to hotel to rest before dinner

Friday, June 20

8:00am – 9:30am – Breakfast on your own

9:30am – Meet in lobby to car pool to the Howard Steamboat Museum & Mansion

10:00am – Howard Steamboat Museum & Mansion, 1101 East Market St., Jeffersonville, IN 47130 – Adults – $5 Child – $5

11:00am – 12:00pm – Schimpff’s Confectionery, is one of the oldest, continuously operated, family-owned candy businesses in the United States – 347 Spring St., Jeffersonville, IN 47130, www.schimpffs.com

12:00pm – Lunch at either Perkfections next door or Schimpff’s Confectionery

Then back to the hotel if you need to put candy and chocolate in the room from Schimpff’s

1:30pm – Meet in lobby to car pool to the Conrad – Caldwell House Museum
2:00pm – Conrad – Caldwell House Museum, 1402 St. James Court, Louisville, KY 40208 – $5 per person

3:00pm – Back to hotel or on own

5:30pm – Meet in lobby of hotel to leave for the Belle of Louisville

6:30pm – boarding on the Belle of Louisville

7:00pm – 9:00pm – Belle of Louisville – Dinner and sightseeing on America’s last true Mississippi River steamboat still in operation. We will travel on the Ohio River. www.belleoflouisville.org The charge for this is $42.00 per person, this needs to be paid when you when you send in the dues and payment for the Saturday evening meal.

9:30pm – Socializing in the lobby

Saturday, June 21

8:00am – 9:30am – Breakfast on your own

9:30am – 12:00pm – On your own – There is Louisville Mega Cavern, the world’s only fully underground zip line course. There is the Water Park at the hotel. There is Muhammad Ali Center Museum, 144 N 6th St, Louisville, KY 40202. There is Marengo Cave, 400 East State Road 64 Marengo, IN 47140. Also, just re-opened this year is the Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay Amusement Park, 937 Phillips Lane, Louisville, KY 40209.

12:00pm – lunch at Tony and Terry Lynn’s House

2:00pm – On your own

5:00 – Business meeting and set-up for silent auction in the Derby Room, which is through the restaurant. This is open to all.

6:00 – Banquet is in the Derby Room – Dinner Champions Grille, Entrée’s are Prime Rib, Fried Chicken and a Fish Buffet. This is all-you-can eat this year for $23.75, which needs to be paid when you send money for your dues. Tea and Coffee included if you would like other beverages or something from the bar can be ordered and paid at the table.

8:00 – Annual HHS silent auction

Sunday, June 22

8:00am – 9:30am – Breakfast in the restaurant at the hotel –Champions Grille Breakfast buffet- seating in the Derby Room – $9.95 to say our farewells and drive safely until next year in Lexington, KY.
