HINCHMAN HERITAGE SOCIETY SUMMER 2022 UPDATE
Greeting to all of our Hinchman Heritage family and friends! I hope you are staying cool and healthy. It was 100 several days this past week in Anderson, SC!
It is with much disappointment that I need to let you all know that there will not be an HHS Conference this summer. There were no responses to the communication put on the HHS website and Facebook page over a month ago asking for volunteers. There are just too many conflicts, medical issues, and scheduling problems with those family members I talked with. (I thought retirement was going to offer all kinds of free time!) I apologize that I was not able to get things organized earlier in the year. If the good Lord is willing and the creek don’t rise, we will have a meeting during the summer of 2023! We will target a location in the Hinchman hub of West Virginia/Kentucky.
I do want to take this time to thank many of you for honoring two of our centenarians. This past December, Barbara Hinchman turned 100 and Esther Hinchman turned 107! Many of you showed an overflowing of love and appreciation by mailing them a large number of birthday cards! We are so lucky to have these ladies as part of the HHS! I just hope some of their genes have spread somehow to the rest of us! Esther still has perfect attendance record-she has been present for every HHS conference that has been held!
In other important news, Ron Tebben has asked to “retire” as the Treasurer of the Hinchman Heritage Society. He has been the Treasurer of HHS since 2000! Thank you, Ron for your 22 years of faithful and dedicated service, keeping track of the HHS funds with integrity! If you would like to personally thank him, you can send him a card at 66 Wood Thrush Lane, Berkeley Springs, W.V. 25411.
A big thank you to Sam Brown, husband of Christie Gibson Brown, who has agreed to replace Ron! In lieu of a meeting, the HHS officers have approved him to take over the Treasurer duties! His financial expertise will be appreciated as he works with Ron during the transition this summer. This brings back great memories of the “Gibson Girls” and their families who hosted our 25th Anniversary HHS conference in Troy!
I’m sure there is more news about the family that needs to be shared! We have many outstanding family members with talented children and grandchildren! Please pass information and accomplishments to Kevin Hinchman at: [email protected] or to me at [email protected] to get it put on the Hinchman Heritage Society website and Facebook page!
I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable summer. Looking forward to getting back with you in the fall with some details for 2023!
Thank you,
Tom Hinchman
HHS President
